Dimensioning and Weighing Station

Dimensioning and Weighing Station: a scale with measures the parcel and weighs it so volumetric weight is right first time.

Parcel and bench scales by capacity and division with trade approval stated, because a scale used to charge a customer has to be approved and a scale used to declare a weight does not.

Sizing and cost

A scale used to work out what a customer pays must be approved for trade use to the Class III standard and verified; a scale used only to declare a weight to a carrier does not have to be. Both are on this page and each one says which it is, because buying the wrong one is expensive in opposite directions. Couriers charge on the greater of the actual weight and the volumetric weight, which for most UK carriers is length by width by height in centimetres divided by 5000. A light product in an oversized box is charged as though it were heavy, so the single biggest saving in most despatch benches is dropping a box size rather than changing carrier.

Which quantity to buy

Delivered is delivered to your door. We sell despatch consumables by what they actually cost per parcel rather than by the price on the box, and every listing states the size the quantity and the cost per unit. If a smaller box would ship your product cheaper we would rather tell you than sell you the one you already order.
